A-mazed
At one of my meetings today, there was a brief discussion of the maze-like quality of one of the buildings at Great Big Company, and the fruitless results of someone’s search, which led to this statement:
“They said they could smell the cheese, but they couldn’t find it.”
I found this particularly amusing, as this morning, the pedestrian route into the building where I work was reconfigured because of some construction. (Mind you, this is the home stretch–about the last hundred yards–of a ten-minute walk from the parking lot.) Instead of walking along a nice, straight sidewalk, there is now a convoluted painted path through a couple of parking lots (directly in the center aisle of the lanes, putting hapless peds squarely in the midst of parking-lot traffic, I might add) that leads one to another entrance entirely. It features lots of 90-degree angles, and yet it’s impossible to see more than one turn ahead when there are cars in the lot. It more than doubles the amount of time required to get from point A to point B.
They should’ve painted it in bureaucrat-red instead of yellow.
