Answer to (1), from your friendly neighborhood lawyer - the Wage and Hours Board (federal), the State Department of Labor, or the Prosecutor's Office. Any or all will work; which will be most effective depends on how much trouble you want to make for the individual. I have all relevant phone numbers at my office.

Answer to (2) is hopefully that their computer hiccupped, and it can be corrected as soon as there's a live human at the bank.

Managing (3) may require chemical assistance.

As to (4), my crystal ball is cracked. If superglue works, I'll let you know.

I had an employer bounce a check once. It was a thinko. The comptroller apologized profusely and fixed everything. Make sure you have them take care of any fees your bank imposes.

Michael had that happen to him once. After that, he took his paycheck downstairs to the bank the company used and cashed it ASAP. As in, if they handed out checks at 4:00, he was down at the bank before it closed.

He also started looking for a new job.

Best of luck on the interview and on getting Ed's money and the fees that the bank has hit you up for.
