This week, we get a little stir-crazy as Paul gives us the following
Our IRE this week involves a small, but interesting story in the far North. As the linked article indicates, the village of Kaktovik is in dire need of heating supplies, isolated and cut off. Worse, the power generating plant is out of commission.
For me, the difficult decision is whether the PCs are the victims or the rescue party. Oh, what the heck, I’ll do both. The players are all members of the First Jovian Scientific Expedition. Half the group has taken a modified deep-water sub to explore the oceans of Europa. Something unexpected happens (as it is wont to do) and the sub finds itself losing power, slowly sinking into the unmapped, icy depths as the air gets staler and staler. I like the ticking clock aspect of the game, as well as the potential for massive science/engineering geekery and maybe a riff on Arthur C. Clarke’s better-known work.
