Look for Six More Signs
I’m never going shopping for anything important without Kevona again. Ever.
Last time I needed a wedding dress, it took me three months just to find something I was willing to wear. It didn’t help that in general, I am outrageously fussy about my everyday clothes, let alone something for a special occasion. One of the reasons that I learned to sew was that I got tired of saying things like “if only I could take the skirt from that, the sleeves from the other, and the bodice of the one over there…” Add to the mix that my mom and I have very different taste, and I hadn’t been clothes-shopping with her for ten years, and you start to get the picture.
I was dreading this shopping expedition. If anything, I’ve gotten fussier over the years. I looked at pictures online, and sure enough, wanted that hemline, and the other bit of embroidery, and that color…etc., etc. I figured I had better start shopping right effing now, and would probably end up asking Mom to sew something for me (which she readily agreed to do if needed; thanks Mom!).
In my desperation, I called up Kevona, who’d gotten married two weeks ago (looking absolutely smashing, if I may say so). She met us at the store where she’d found her dress. K. had my camera and her finely honed psychiatric skills at the ready.
Fortunately, she only needed to use the camera.
I was ready for an ordeal, followed by disappointment. Instead, I found three dresses to try on right away, all by the same manufacturer. All of them looked good, and (gasp!) one of them had all the design elements I was looking for. I tried all three, and was assured that they were all available in the color of my choice (light silver). All of the sample dresses even fit well enough for me to get them zipped all the way up (no mean feat, with my wide shoulders) and move around. All of them looked good, and just for the sake of being thorough, I tried on a few others. However, my mind was pretty well made up as soon as I had First Choice Dress mostly on in the fitting room. The service rep didn’t just show me the fabric swatches; she gave me samples. The dress is well within my budget. My mother and I both like it. The whole thing took less than 90 minutes. No trauma, no drama.
Unbelievable.
Here are pics from the manufacturer’s website.

That is improbably perfect for you! (because, after all, nothing is impossible, especially when entropy decides to pop in for a visit) We may not need to go shopping when next I see you, but you will take me to see it, won’t you?

The pictures don’t do it justice. People will just have to wait to see it on you.
