Book 12: Oxymoronica

Title: Oxymoronica
Author: Dr. Mardy Grothe
Genre: Collected quotations

Oxymoronica is what happens when a psychologist decides to gather observations of the inherent insanity of life as we know it. So, if you’ve ever worried whether or not you were nuts, this book is a great way to reassure yourself that you are, and so is everyone else. On the other hand, if you’ve long been convinced that life is absurd, you will probably enjoy the opportunity not only to read about how correct you are, but the depth and breadth of variety and agreement on the subject, with a side of cognitive dissonance.

The section on oxymorinc insults is short, but particularly satisfying, as it is not difficult to think of a great many people to whom the various quotations could apply. The only chapter that fails to measure up, in my mind, is the one on politics, possibly because I have a high threshold for what qualifies as true absurdity where politics are concerned.
